FilterTool  Tool

Summary

In the complex world of digital filtering, there are a few basic types that stand out as useful in the analysis of neuronal spike train data: lowpass, highpass, bandpass, and bandstop. The FilterTool offers each of these options in a simplified graphics display, with user-selectable cutoff frequencies. You’re given the flexibility to select basic filter parameters that best suit your input data, while keeping the underlying filter construction fixed.

Details

Each of the four filter response types is designed using the MATLAB ‘butter’ function to design a Butterworth filter, which is characterized by a magnitude response that is maximally flat in the passband and monotonic overall.
