ConditionalMean Tool (Under Development)

Summary

“Understanding the statistical interdependence of inter-event intervals cannot be stressed enough if we desire as complete a characterization as possible of a point process" (D.H. Johnson, 1996). The ConditionalMean tool examines whether or not the inter-event intervals have a first order dependence structure.

Details

CM(b) = The expected value of the (n+1)th interevent interval given that the nth interval was in bin "b".
The ConditionalMean tool includes the following options:
Show the mean value of the next interval given the previous interval was within a given bin.
Show the criterion curves that would apply if the events were well described by a renewal process.
Show the standard of the error.
Show some of the actual data points in a scatter plot.
