BasicThresh Tool

Summary

BasicThresh is a traditional threshold routine that finds and stores spike train fragments based on user selected search criteria. These criteria include a threshold value, the number of points to store before and after a threshold exceedence, and the number of points to skip between spike train fragments.

Details

The first criteria that BasicThresh uses to find spike trains is a threshold crossing. The data file is searched in a sequential fashion to find all the data points that exceed the user-defined threshold. Alternatively, you can also select an automatic 3 Sigma or 2 Sigma threshold.

When the routine finds a data point that exceeds the threshold, it stores a specified number of points before and a specified number of points after the data point.

The threshold routine then skips a specified number of points before starting the search again. By skipping a user-selected number of points between spikes, the risk of creating a second spike around the same high data point is removed.
