NeuroMAX
DOWNLOAD
INTRODUCTION
- The NeuroMAX download, neuromax.exe, is a WinZip self-extracting
file containing various NeuroMAX programs and utilities:
Evaluation Copy
nsnViewConvert Utility
Command Line Demo
GUI Tool Tutorial
Neuromax.exe includes a sample data file, MATLAB source
code, and pdf documentation.
You’ll need MATLAB version 7.2 (R2006a) or later,

These files are evaluation versions (final release is
expected prior to the next Society for Neuroscience meeting
this November 2008). After reviewing the NeuroMAX Evaluation
copy, please complete and send us the NeuroMAX Survey.
Your comments and suggestions for enhancing NeuroMAX to
make it meet your needs will be greatly appreciated.

Evaluation Copy
The NeuroMAX evaluation copy includes several tools in
each of the four NeuroMAX toolboxes: Spike Detection,
Spike Sorting, Spike Train Analysis, and Waveform Display.
The NeuromaxTutorial.pdf takes you through the basic
steps using the NeuroMAX main GUI and individual tool
GUIs to create a chain of MATLAB-based NeuroMAX tools.
This NeuroMAX tool chain will detect, sort, and analyze
spikes from the sample data file we’ve included.
Or, you can use the nsnViewConvert utility to convert
your Neuroshare-compatible data to Neuroshare Native (.nsn)
and analyze your own data.
nsnViewConvert Utility
The powerful nsnViewConvert has two functions:
1. Displays the entity attributes of
Neuroshare-compatible data files. These files may contain
any combination of analog, segment, event, or neural event
entities.
2. Saves your Neuroshare-compatible data
file to NeuroMAX .nsn format. Now you can analyze and
share data from a variety of vendor formats with a single
analysis tool: NeuroMAX.
Command Line Demo
The Command Line Demo demonstrates the use of NeuroMAX workspace
Classes and Methods to connect NeuroMAX tools together in
a chain. Stepping through the demo will show how NeuroMAX
tools can be called from the MATLAB command line without
interaction with the NeuroMAX tool GUIs.
GUI Tool Tutorial
The GUI Tool Tutorial introduces the object oriented NeuroMAX
framework that will allow you to “drop-in” a
new, fully operational tool into the existing toolbox. By
creating a new tool called NewThresh, which performs a basic
threshold operation, you’ll learn how to create a
NeuroMAX compatible tool and GUI interface.
