RESEARCH APPLICATIONS: Overview

Understanding how neurons code and process information continues to be a major goal of neuroscientists. Improved understanding of the neural code will have a huge impact on both neuroscience and clinical neurology. Better understanding of the mechanisms of neural coding will almost certainly impact the treatment of many neurological disorders. In addition, artificial intelligence, neuro-morphic engineering, and neural networks applications will be greatly improved in their attempts to computationally emulate the processing done so elegantly and rapidly by even simple neural systems.

    EXTRA-CELLULAR RECORDINGS

SUMMARY:
Analysis tools for ensemble spike train data are needed that can analyze a large number of responses without sacrificing temporal resolution that may contain key details of the information coding. Adding NeuroMAX to your research protocol provides access to a set of powerful, flexible, and supported tools to assist in your efforts to understand the neural code. These tools are grouped by function into the Spike Detection, Spike Sorting, Spike Train Analysis, and Display Tools toolboxes.

Go to Extra-Cellular Recording to find out how each of the NeuroMAX toolboxes is relevant to extra-cellular recording.

ALGORITHM DEVELOPMENT
SUMMARY:
In addition to using NeuroMAX’s open implementation platform1 tools, users are encouraged to create new spike detection or sorting algorithms that meet their specific research requirements. By combining our proven tools and quantitative measurements with your own customized routines, you can now produce the best, most consistent spike-sorting results possible. Visit Algorithm Development to learn how NeuroMAX tools are linked and how new tools are developed to help you meet your research goals.

COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH

SUMMARY:
The NeuroMAX toolboxes enhance the ability of researchers to easily collaborate and share algorithms and processing results by providing a consistent data processing and results visualization software platform. Several key features of NeuroMAX have been implemented specifically to encourage collaborative research among researchers in the neuroscience community. Go to Collaborative Research for information about how NeuroMAX assists researchers in sharing Neuroshare Native (NsN) data, and sharing NeuroMAX tools.
